Benjamin Barber is exactly right in everything he said. I never even thought about all of the advertising that there really is in school and colleges today. When I think about it, everything seems to have some sort of advisement to it. I believe that privatization is a horrible as well.
The No Child Left Behind Act is bogus. As I said in my own article in schools they push there kids so hard to pass the PSSA’s that the students are crying over it and in extreme stress. I hated the PSSA when I was in high school. We had to miss two days of study hall to study for the PSSA’s. We studied on a site called Study Island. At our school talent show a group of kids had an act where they all were on a tropical island called Study Island having a good time on the beach. Everyone at the talent show roared with laughter because Study Island in real life was the complete opposite of something fun.
Very good and interesting response John. Make sure to make the next one a bit longer, otherwise good. A good way to expand this entry would be to write about whether or not NCLB is good for education as a country or not – starting with your personal story, then expanding outwards. Thanks!
