Benjamin Barber is exactly right in everything he said.  I never even thought about all of the advertising that there really is in school and colleges today.  When I think about it, everything seems to have some sort of advisement to it.  I believe that privatization is a horrible as well.

The No Child Left Behind Act is bogus.  As I said in my own article in schools they push there kids so hard to pass the PSSA’s that the students are crying over it and in extreme stress.  I hated the PSSA when I was in high school.  We had to miss two days of study hall to study for the PSSA’s.  We studied on a site called Study Island.  At our school talent show a group of kids had an act where they all were on a tropical island called Study Island having a good time on the beach.  Everyone at the talent show roared with laughter because Study Island in real life was the complete opposite of something fun.

Anthony Giddens is a very wise and intelligent man.  He received his Ph. D at the University of Cambridge, is the director of the London School of Economics and chairman of Policy Press.  That is just a small bit of what I could tell you about Giddens.              In this essay Gidden talks about the good and the bad of globalization.  Poorer countries are going down hill and the more powerful ones and soaring high.  Today trillions of dollars and being traded through the worldwide markets.  Country are not grow or losing power over war but of their economy.  This is nothing like it used to be.  This is all because of globalization.  I feel bad for the countries losing power but I am still for globalization.  I can trade stock in an instant online or talk to a friend across the world with a touch of a button.  Technology is growing and everyone has to keep up.  If they can not keep up they will lose overall.

Globalization

After reading The Super Story, by Thomas Friedman I have just realized how much the world has changed just in a few decades.  Thomas Friedman gave great examples of globalization today.  He made me realize how much the world has changed in such a short time.  This was a strongly written prologue which made me think and I am sure made others do the same.

When I think of globalization now, I think of the world coming together.  Globalization is causing more trade and communication between countries.  One person can have more impact on the way the world works than ever.  One person can start a war like Osama bin Laden.  Country’s economy can be ruined by the use of the stock market called supermarkets.  Today people can e-mail and trade stocks online.  This was never possible a few decades ago.  Also now everyone has a cell phone and can reach anyone at a push of a few buttons.  Globalization may turn out to be something bad or good.  No one will know till time tells.

Are all frat boys dicks?

Many people think that fraternities are filled with a bunch of cocky punks.  They think that they rule campus and they are above everyone else.  When a guy tries to get into one of their parties he has to bring a bunch of girls.  It is very hard to get in unless he knows someone, it is Rush Week, or he brings girls.  Please comment and give your thoughts!
